Bb trickz Returns with Experimental New EP “lechita”

This week Spanish rapper and cultural iconoclast Bb trickz graces fans with the new four-song EP lechita. While only clocking in at around 6 minutes of new music, fans might be surprised to hear elements of indie-rock, lo-fi, and surf rock instead of her usual arsenal of latin drill sounds.

Despite this, Bb trickz still consistently delivers tracks that are just as risky as they are reflections of her own unique artistry – and the project’s euphemistic title “little milk” is just the beginning.

Synthesizing hazy vocals with hard-hitting percussion and dulcet guitar melodies, “perrita” is a relatively tame banger until Bb trickz starts rapping. The risqué energy of lechita doesn’t end there however, as tracks like “final boss” and “leche^^” push the proverbial envelope over mixes that sound similar to some of her older tracks like “I wonder” or the Sadtrickz EP. The project ends with its most uptempo track “fresa”, which sees Bb trickz taking another stylistic risk with different vocal layers weaving together over a murky guitar melody. Though by themselves these tracks might seem like rough instances of Bb trickz simply just working outside of her comfort zone, tracks like these reflect a great amount of emotional tension that appears alongside the confusion and malaise of personal growth and coming-of-age.

The past year has been nothing if not explosive for Bb trickz - and from being featured on the “Club Classics” remix to collaborating with artists like Rusowsky and Theodora, the young phenom is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Even the release of this project lechita is preceded by her last EP 80’z by only a few months, which suggests that the time to claim your status as an ‘early fan’ might be over. Worry not, however, as projects like lechita prove Bb trickz is always capable of feeding fans both old and new.
